How long does a typical Oracle Fusion implementation take?
A full multi-module Fusion implementation for a mid-sized organisation typically runs nine to eighteen months from kick-off to go-live, depending on the number of modules in scope, the volume of legacy customisations to re-evaluate, and how much organisational change management the business needs alongside the technical work.
Should we move to Fusion, or stay on EBS?
There is no universal answer. Oracle has committed Premier Support for EBS 12.2 through at least December 2037, so there is no forced timeline. The right call depends on whether your business genuinely needs Fusion's cloud-native capabilities — continuous updates, embedded AI, and modern UX — enough to justify a full re-implementation, versus the total cost of staying on a well-run EBS estate. What is the biggest hidden cost in an EBS to Fusion migration?
Customisation re-evaluation. EBS estates that have run for a decade accumulate custom forms, reports, interfaces, and workflow personalisations (CEMLIs) that cannot be lifted directly into Fusion — each one has to be individually assessed for a Fusion-native equivalent, a configuration workaround, or a decision to drop it. This work is consistently underestimated in early-stage cost projections.
